The Spring CLeW (Community Leadership Workshop) season is already upon us, and we’re excited to introduce OUTSTANDING high school freshmen around eastern New York State to HOBY! Our annual Area 3 CLeW will be held Saturday, March 1st at Shaker Junior High School in Latham, NY, followed by an Area 1 CLeW on Saturday, March 22nd at SS Seward Institute in Florida, NY and an Area 5 CLeW on April 26th at Ballston Spa Middle School in Ballston Spa, NY.
The Community Leadership Workshop (CLEW) is HOBY’s introductory one-day leadership program for high school freshmen. A typical CLeW is six to ten hours long, with 50-100 freshmen participants, and focuses on leadership as a discipline to be explored and learned.
HOBY CLeW students interact with local community leaders, participate in group activities, and conduct community service projects. CLeWs are organized, developed, and implemented by HOBY alumni in conjunction with HOBY volunteers, local business leaders, and civic groups.
Are you a high school freshman who is interested in signing up to attend a CLeW? Are you a HOBY alumnus, HOBY volunteer, or community member who is considering planning a CLeW for high school students in your community? Contact Terrance McNally at firstname.lastname@example.org to learn more.
